Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 21, 2026

1. About This Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Keen PDF Android app.

Keen PDF is an on-device document scanner, offline OCR tool, PDF utility, and document manager. The app does not require an account. For privacy questions, contact [email protected].

2. Files and Permissions

Keen PDF may locally process:

Camera permission is used only for Scan or camera-based OCR. On Android 11 and later, My Files may request All files access to find and manage supported documents in shared storage. On Android 13 and later, notification permission may be requested for feature reminders and shortcut notifications. You can deny or revoke these permissions in Android Settings.

Document processing takes place on your device. Keen PDF does not upload document contents, file names, file paths, file URIs, images, PDFs, Office or TXT content, or recognized text to a Keen PDF server, Firebase, or advertising providers.

The app stores only the local settings and file information needed for features such as Home, Recent, My Files, unfinished tasks, and the Recycle Bin.

3. Firebase and Advertising

Keen PDF uses:

These services may process app interactions, crash information, device and app technical information, approximate location derived from IP address, installation or advertising identifiers, notification delivery information, and advertising activity.

Keen PDF Analytics events are limited to tool start, completion and failure, OCR completion and failure, and the selected OCR script category. They do not contain user files or recognized text.

Firebase, Google AdMob, and applicable advertising partners process information under their own terms and privacy policies. They may process information outside your country or region. Keen PDF does not sell user documents or recognized text.

4. How Information Is Used and Shared

Information described in this Policy is used to:

When you choose Share or open a document with another app, the app you select receives that file or text and handles it under its own privacy policy. Keen PDF does not receive the shared content.

Information may also be disclosed when required by law or when reasonably necessary to prevent fraud, abuse, or security threats.

5. Storage and Retention

Temporary processing files are removed when a task is completed, discarded, or cleaned up by Android. Generated files remain in shared or user-selected storage until you move or delete them.

Local settings, file indexes, recent records, and unfinished task data remain until they are replaced, removed, cleared with app data, or removed when the app is uninstalled. Files outside the app's private storage may remain after uninstalling the app.

Files in the Recycle Bin remain until you restore them or choose Empty Trash. Firebase Crashlytics keeps crash data and related identifiers for 90 days before removal begins. Other service providers retain information under their own settings and policies.

6. Your Choices and Rights

You can:

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain information about certain personal data.

7. Security and Children's Privacy

Core document processing occurs on the device. App-private files are protected by Android's app sandbox, and information sent to Firebase and advertising services is encrypted in transit by those services. No storage or transmission method is completely secure.

Keen PDF is not directed to children. Advertising and third-party services are subject to their own age-related requirements.

8. Changes and Contact

We may update this Privacy Policy when the app's features, permissions, service providers, or data practices change. The published policy will show the latest update date.
